What We Believe

The following are the core beliefs of Odyssey Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Bible is the perfect and inspired Word of God. It is our source of all doctrine, instruction and correction. It provides practical guidance for every-day life.

There is only One true God revealed in three persons; Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.

Every person can have restored fellowship with God through "salvation",  a church term that means 'trusting Jesus, through faith and repentance, to be our personal Savior'.

Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He was crucified, dead and buried. He rose again on the third day. He ascended to heaven and now sits in authority at the right hand of God the Father. He will return to claim his Church and judge mankind.

The Holy Spirit empowers Christ-followers to serve and share their faith. The Holy Spirit is our comforter and directs us in life.

Baptism is an outward sign of what God has already done in our lives. We follow Christ's example, and through it identify with Him, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Beyond just believing in Him, we believe God has called us to serve his people in a specific way. These are our core values as a church and what we strive for.

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people” We believe that excellence honors God and excellence should be not only in our work in the church but also in our everyday lives.

2 Corinthians 9:7b “And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” All of our resources, whether material or spiritual, are gifts from God. We commit ourselves to be obedient as tithers, joyful in giving, and generous in heart.

1 Peter 4:10 “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another” Here at Odyssey we believe that all of us have been given a gift or talent from God. There is no greater fulfillment than to serve God and people with the talent He has given you. We want everyone to be part of the blessing of serving community, family, friends, and God.

We believe in the importance of the home and family and will do everything we can to encourage and strengthen the family unit.

Proverbs 17:17 “A friend loves at all times.” We believe relationships matter, and we VALUE them. Whether it’s relationships with our community, with our neighbors, or with a total stranger...Relationships matter. Whether you have tons of friends, no friends, whether you have great relationships or relationships that need some work, here at Odyssey a relationship with you matters.

Matthew 28:19-20 “Go make disciples of all nations....teaching them to observe all I have commanded you.” Our goal is to equip people, empower people, and disciple people to become the church on their job, in their community, and with their family.
